“Nobody cares what microphone you use.”

Stephen, however, cares deeply. Bit of an obsession with him, actually. With decades of studio experience all over the country, he gets called to consult with other voice actors in choosing their new microphones in shoot-outs.

The recording chain in his custom-build studio starts with a Lawson L47MPII microphone, hot-rodded with a PCC88 Siemens tube. Captures performance perfectly, and out-performs an original U47.

Then a P-Solo preamp heads into an Audient iD14 with its flawless A-D conversion, directly into Protools. Monitoring with Sony MDR-M1, MDR-7520, and Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250.
