About

Stephen Bowlby grew up across the river from New York in a mythical land called New Jersey. He made a career in television and film as a director and editor in films and national commercials. With a respect for the structures and rhythms of scripts, he moved onto a larger playing field to bring characters and stories to life in audiobooks.

In 2009, he studied audiobook performance with Pat Fraley at Buzzy’s Recording in Hollywood, with Hillary Huber, Scott Brick, and Stefan Rudnicki, which led to narrating over 200 audiobooks across a wide range of genres: front-list thrillers, literary fiction, mystery, noir, science fiction, historical fiction; memoir, business, and scholarly non-fiction. He’s been called back by authors and publishers in multiple series, detailed here.

Stephen has a BA in Speech and Theater from Westminster College with concentration in radio, television, and film. He’s worked in all those areas since 1973, and records from his professional studio in Colorado. His Pat Fraley training continued with narration, and he is a Wolfpack Graduate, studying commercial performance with Nancy Wolfson at Braintracks.

As film editor for the popular multi-camera Star Trek podcast “The D-Con Chamber” starring Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer, he keeps in touch with filmmaking and his inner trekkie. Also he’s perfected making N.Y. style pizza at 6000′ elevation, which is just as hard as it sounds.
